Don’t you cry baby little Jesus, please don’t you cry – On immigration and the little children

Don’t you cry little baby Jesus, please don’t you cry
Your mother was taken away from you, I know
But please don’t cry

The Emperor’s army made of immigration officers
Have separated you from your family
So you would know how tough it is to deal with the empire
They are merciless you know
They are after their own richness
Richness they once stole from somebody else
But now by laws they made
They say it belongs to them!

Don’t you cry little baby Jesus, please don’t you cry
If I could I surely would
Stand on the border where Hagar stood
Don’t cry little baby Jesus, please don’t cry

After the ‘Chase And Scatter’ tactics of Border Patrol
Using “SUVs, ATVs, dirt bikes, horseback, and helicopters to pursue migrants at high speeds”
To go after you and your family
They get so scared they run
With you in their arms
Filled with unspeakable fears
They get scattered
They get lost
Now, they are facing death’s bright eyes

Don’t you cry little baby Jesus, please don’t you cry
If I could I surely would
Stand on the border where Hagar stood
Don’t you cry little baby Jesus, please don’t you cry

Perhaps you’re tossed somewhere in the desert
All your tears dried out
Sleeping the sleep of exhaustion and abandonment
Like Hagar’s son
Perhaps your brother is trying to get the vultures away from you
from eating you both alive

Don’t cry little baby Jesus, please don’t cry
If I could I surely would
Stand on the border where Hagar stood
Don’t you cry little baby Jesus, please don’t you cry

You are a thousand miles away from the smell of your mother
God only knows where she is
Little Jesus
I am sorry
But the guards of the empire found you in the manger
In Bethlehem
They took them to different private prisons around the borders of the empire
Displaced from your family as a law of the empire
They see you crying and they say to themselves:
It’s working!
But they go to the media and say:
That’s their fault!
The cry of this baby has nothing to do with us
It comes from the faulty behaviors of their parents
We wash our hands from their blood. Gladly!

Don’t you cry little baby Jesus, please don’t you cry
If I could I surely would
Stand on the border where Hagar stood
Don’t you cry little baby Jesus, please don’t you cry

Now you, little baby Jesus
If you survived the cross of the desert
You will grow up abandoned to the mercy of gangs
Either in Central America or US
The cross hoovering over you
Day and night
Each day the cross will make an attempt to stab you
But every day you survive
Until you don’t
Perhaps you will start a ministry with the poor
Perhaps you will die earlier
And nobody will know
Nobody will care

Don’t you cry little baby Jesus, please don’t you cry
If I could I surely would
Stand on the border where Hagar stood
Don’t you cry little baby Jesus, please don’t you cry

Even though
the good “yes we can” Emperor
And the bad “make america great again” Emperor
Couldn’t care for you
Like the song says
Their army will get drowned
Someday! Oh yes
This empire will crumble down!
Faster than you imagine!

To them we ask for forgiveness! And mercy!

For while they do know very well what they are doing, they also don’t know a thing about what they are doing. And forgive us too for blaming them without mercy.

Dear little baby Jesus
You won’t see neither the fall of the empire or their transformation
And even though you won’t see it
We will sing the song of your mother
Sending away the citizens
and welcoming the immigrant
Like Mary
We are all wearing three links of chain
Every link has Jesus’ name.
Listen to this: we are singing
One of these nights about 12 o’ clock
This old world’s going to reel and rock.

Don’t cry little baby Jesus, please don’t you cry
Today I read your story in the news
That very moment I thought I was lost
But then I heard the cries
Of our ancestors
And surely
The dungeon shook and the chains fell off.
Don’t cry little baby Jesus, please don’t you cry
God told us all what to do
To lead all the unaccompanied children through
God gave us the rainbow sign
No more desert, but home next time.
