In Brazil, the most respectable Kayapo Indian Chief Raoni Txucurramãe cries when he learns that the Brazilian Government decides to build Belo Monte, that will be the third largest hydro-electric dam in the world, bigger than the Panama Canal. The price for nature and for the indigenous people will be enormous. Belo Monte will inundate at least 400.000 hectares of forest, kicking out 40.000 indigenous people and local communities, also destroying a precious habitat for so many species. There would be no need for this if there were not interests of big corporations and incentives to produce more in energetic efficiency. A brutal and very sad moment for our world, for our nature and for the Brazilian history. A time to cry with our brother and chief Raoni…
