British Airways cancelled my flight to Barcelona and I am waiting for my next flight at Heathrow. While I am here sipping coffee, I am listening to this CD I discovered yesterday while wandering around Edinburgh under the rain after having eaten Haggis at this nice restaurant at the Royal Mile. Self described “as the ever-changing, ever-evolving group of itinerant musicians,” this group puts together Salsa, Jazz and Celtic sounds, making Latin America sound Celtic. In this CD, you hear pipes, whistles, cittern, banjo, button-accordion in the midst of congas, percussion, guiro and other instruments.
If my Presbyterian Heritage made me sing so many hymns from Scotland, Salsa Celtica helped my Latin American soul feel a different Celtic sound. One of my favorite songs says:
Quando me vaya sera cantando
Quando me vaya sera gozando
Quando me vaya
If I am not completely wrong I can translate it this way:
When I go it will be singing
When I go it will be enjoying
When I go
Ah, isn’t this absolutely marvelous?
