Worship+Meal = Worshiping God and Creating Community @ LTSP

The students of the class Early Christian Liturgical Practices at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia prepared a wonderful worship service that included a meal for our community. Worshiping and eating together was about honoring God with our love, time, talents and desire to serve. Being at the (eucharistic?) table, getting to know each other, sharing our lives and differences, we sang, read, talked, listen to the gospel, prayed, ate and drank, caring and feeding each other. Surely, a rehearsal of what the world should be, an appetizer of the God’s love feast prepared to us all.

We come to the hungry feast,

Hungry for a word of peace.

To hungry hearts unsatisfied,

The love of God is not denied.

We come, we come to the hungry feast.

We come to the hungry feast,

Hungry for a world released,

From hungry folk of every kind,

The poor in body, poor in mind.

We come, we come to the hungry feast.

We come to the hungry feast

Hungry that the hunger cease,

And knowing, though we eat our fill

The hungry will stay with us; still

We come, we come to the hungry feast.
